ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. BY THE GRACE OF THE TRUE GURU:

AASAA, FIFTH MEHL: The soul, the mind, the body and the breath of life belong to God. He ha given all tastes and pleasures. He is the Friend of the poor, the Giver of life, the Protector of those who seek His Sanctuary. ||1 || O my mind, meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. Here and hereafter, He is our Helper and Companion; embrace love and affection for the One Lord. || 1 || Pause || They meditate on the Vedas and the Shaastras, to swim across the world-ocean. The many religious rituals, good deeds of karma and Dharmic worship ó above all of these is the Naam, the Name of the Lord. || 2 || Sexual desire, anger, and egotism depart, meeting with the Divine True Guru. Implant the Naam within, perform devotional worship to the Lord and serve God ó this is good. || 3 || I seek the Sanctuary of Your Feet, O Merciful Lord; You are the Honor of the dishonored. You are the Support of my soul, my breath of life; O God, You are Nanak‘s strength. || 4 || 2 || 137 ||

Maajh, Fifth Mehl:

ਸਗਲ ਸੰਤਨ ਪਹਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਇਕ ਮਾਂਗਉ ॥ Sagal Santan Peh Vasat Ek Magao II
I beg of all the Saints: please, give me the merchandise.
ਸਗਲ = ਸਾਰੇ। ਪਹਿ = ਪਾਸੋਂ। ਮਾਂਗਉ = ਮੈਂ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਵਸਤੁ = ਚੰਗੀ ਸ਼ੈ।
(ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਤੇਰਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ-ਪਦਾਰਥ ਹੀ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ,

ਕਰਉ ਬਿਨੰਤੀ ਮਾਨੁ ਤਿਆਗਉ ॥ Karao Bineti Maan Tyagao II
I offer my prayers-I have forsaken my pride.
ਕਰਉ = ਕਰਉਂ, ਮੈਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮਾਨੁ = ਅਹੰਕਾਰ। ਤਿਆਗਉ = ਤਿਆਗਉਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿਆਂ।
ਤੇ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ) ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਕਿ ਕਿਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ।

ਵਾਰਿ ਵਾਰਿ ਜਾਈ ਲਖ ਵਰੀਆ ਦੇਹੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
War War Jaai Lakh Waria Dheh Santan Ki Dhora Jio II
I am a sacrifice, hundreds of thousands of times a sacrifice, and I pray: please, give me the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||1||
ਵਾਰਿ ਵਾਰਿ = ਸਦਕੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ। ਜਾਈ = ਜਾਈਂ, ਮੈਂ ਜਾਵਾਂ। ਵਰੀਆ = ਵਾਰੀ। ਧੂਰਾ = ਚਰਨ-ਧੂੜ ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਵਾਰ (ਤੇਰੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਸਦਕੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ॥੧॥

ਤੁਮ ਦਾਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ॥ Tum Daate Tum Purkh Bidhate II
You are the Giver, You are the Architect of Destiny.
ਪੁਰਖ = ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ। ਬਿਧਾਤਾ = ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ, ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ {विधातृ}।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।

ਤੁਮ ਸਮਰਥ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤੇ ॥ Tum Samrath Sada Sukhdate II
You are All-powerful, the Giver of Eternal Peace.

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ।

ਸਭ ਕੋ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਵਰਸਾਵੈ ਅਉਸਰੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

You bless everyone. Please bring my life to fulfillment.
ਤੇ = ਤੋਂ। ਵਰਸਾਵੈ = ਫਲ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਉਸਰੁ = ਸਮਾ, ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ-ਰੂਪ ਸਮਾ। ਪੂਰਾ = ਸਫਲ, ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ॥੨॥
ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੁਰਾਦਾਂ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਇਹ ਮੰਗ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਦੇ ਕੇ) ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਾ ਸਮਾ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਕਰ ॥੨॥

ਦਰਸਨਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਭਵਨ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ॥ Darsan Terai Bhavan Punita II
The body-temple is sanctified by the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan,
ਦਰਸਨਿ = ਦਰਸਨ ਨਾਲ। ਭਵਨ = {ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ} ਸ਼ਹਰ, ਸਰੀਰ-ਸ਼ਹਰ। ਪੁਨੀਤਾ = ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ।
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ) ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰਸਨ (ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ) ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ-ਨਗਰ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਰ ਲਏ ਹਨ।

ਆਤਮ ਗੜੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਜੀਤਾ ॥ Aatam Gurd Bikhm TIna He Jita II
and thus, the impregnable fort of the soul is conquered.
ਗੁੜ = ਗੜ੍ਹ, ਕਿਲ੍ਹਾ। ਬਿਖਮੁ = ਔਖਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤਣਾ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਔਖੇ ਮਨ-ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।

ਤੁਮ ਦਾਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਸੂਰਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
Tum Date Tum Purakh Bidhate Tud Jevad Avar Na Sura Jio II
You are the Giver, You are the Architect of Destiny. There is no other warrior as great as You.
ਸੂਰਾ = ਸੂਰਮਾ ॥੩॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
